Background

Business & Design, University of Gothenburg

For the first time in Sweden, the School of Design and Crafts has in association with the School of Business, Economics and Law presented a Master’s programme designed for students and professionals with different educational backgrounds but with a common interest – to work strategically with design. Although the programme only started in 2008 it has already reached an acclaimed status as one of the 30 best design programmes in the world by Business Week (http://images.businessweek.com/ss/09/09/0930_worlds_best_design_schools/30.htm). Business & Design focuses on a process in which people can contribute with their different roles and experiences and exercise the ability to understand and utilize each others’ knowledge – a demand expressed from industry and companies.

Keen is a student strategic design studio that has become a creative and innovative hub integrating different backgrounds, experiences and skills. With backgrounds in usability, behavioural sciences, product and furniture design our services cover topics such as strategy, business, design and sustainability. We conduct research, trend watch, vision studies and develop concepts for different companies, organizations and industries.

Curious about Shoes is a vision study that aims to focus on the possibilities with alternative green chains of supply and demand. The project also aims to envision the value of such a business constellation that encompasses sustainability as an integral player rather than an “ad hoc” hyper adaptivity. The project has been commissioned by the Business & Design master’s programme at the University of Gothenburg and initiated by Andreas Johansson, formerly Research Associate at Gothenburg Research Institute and currently Business Innovation Manager at Volvo IT.
